The Importance of Exclusionary Practices in the Creation of Communities
When we talk about what defines a community, it also must involve exclusion in some sense. You need to say that there are members and non-members. There are people who are not part of this community. And so maybe if you have this kind of open door policy where you can come and go as you please, then it's not so much a community as it is a room with an open door that people are just walking in and out of. Yeah. So I definitely think that could be part of the equation when we think about new religious groups or groups that are, you know, mimicking religion, but lacking sort of the other aspects of religion that have made certain groups succeed.
