British people just prefer shortening things. And they really like fish and chips. Panicus Panay can't even remember the first time he tried it, but my parents do because they told me it was more or less the first solid food that I ate. There is not a town in England without a chippy to its name. Chippy is where you buy fish and chips,. otherwise known as a chip shop or if you must a fish and chip shop.
