The Stonewall Inn in New York
In the summer of 69, homosexual acts were illegal in every state illinois. The mafia run bar in new york's greenwich village called the stonewall inn was a popular place for gay people to hang out. But on june 20 eighth, 19 69, under cover cops were joined by squads of police to raid the stone wall. It quickly turned into a riot as police tried to arrest employees and drag and trans patrons. Within two years, gay wrights groups were formed in almost every major city in the united states. And one year later, the first gay pride parades happened New York, san francisco, boston and chicago.
