Exoplanets are not the only thing we would be looking for in space. Radio telescopes could help us find out what happened before the first stars. The Earth is a huge source of radio emission from things like FM stations, cell phones and Mariceline radars. But when you go into space, which we're certainly doing, there's no ionosphere to block your signal. It turns out the inner solar side of the moon is the most radio quiet place in the entire system because the Earth doesn't just shine there - it's completely blocked by radiation.
