Is Mary Perpetually a Virgin?
The church has always understood these passages as not referring to other children of the Virgin Mary. James and Joseph, the quote unquote brothers of Jesus are the sons of another Mary that Matthew significantly calls the other Mary. Their close relationship with Jesus, according to an Old Testament expression, would be Adelphoy.
