The Importance of Central Heating

Before the radiator, fireplaces were almost more important than walls in shaping the space that people lived in. Even in the early 1970s, central heating was a marker of modernity and privilege. Without central heating, there would be no open-plan kitchen. 17% of carbon emissions come from heating and cooling domestic spaces in Britain. It is now imperative that we adopt new ways of heating our homes.
