The Bower of Bliss
Spencer's poem lingers over seductive aspects of vice only to stage acts of destruction that purge the sinfulness. A central example is the so-called Bower of Bliss, a haven of sensual delights presided over by a witch called Acrazia. Characters and places in the poem are literally called things like despair and error.
