Is There a Connection Between Goat Skin and Fertility?

Ovid says that it goes back to the infertility of the sabine women. The romans themselves, i think, found this weird and tried to explain it. Connections have also been made to the early legendary history of rome in another way. This is when everything present, pre city, pre civilization, when everything was fine and fertility wasn't a problem.
