There is a religious dimension to the way that a lot of Americans consume sports in terms of ritual. And there are things that we do just for the heaven of it, just because of the joy that we feel in doing it. So making sand castle is a cultural act, but it is deeply aesthetic, right? There's no sort of desire to have the best sand. Maybe they're sand castle competitions, but you do that because of theJoy that you feel in the moment of doing it. This is all cultural things, but that exists on this aesthetic level that actually might point us towards something greater.
