The Sweatshop and Its Importance
In the early 1800s, Henry Brooks saw all this fabric pile up in ports of New York. He and a bunch of other merchants took advantage of it to mass produce clothes for women. The word democracy is sort of a dirty word now but was once seen as an incredible emblem of everything that's wrong with our idea of democratic dress.
