Lumber costs have gone down significantly. Consumers are spending less on projects that require them to buy lumber and lumber prices have fallen. So Home Depot's fat margins are now a lot skinnier than they were before. What I can't get a handle on is bank balances. When we listen to people like Jamie Diamond, he says they're still high. But surely they've come off. Otherwise consumers wouldn't need to be putting things on plastic. Well, but yeah, exactly.
