The Housing Supply Crisis After the Pandemic
The housing supply shortage, which already existed for years pre pandemic, took a rapid and severe turn for the worse after the shutdowns began. The upstream materials that go into the construction of a home, such as lumber, copper piping, h va systems, asphalt, shingle for roofs, were also impact by the shut downs. Lumber prices shot up to astronomical rates. And so what happens if you're a builder? You're already looking at high underlying land us; now you're seeing that the cost of materials has gone bazerk.
