Tornadoes are like snowflakes: They're exactly alike. So if we did have all the right equipment in place and at the right time, would that be enough? Heavens no. I think as we get greater technology, in particular with drones, it will give us a greater capacity to collect these data sets without putting humans in harm's way.
8 minutes, 24 seconds. That’s the average amount of warning time people get before a tornado touches down. To do better, and to understand tornadoes, scientists need to confront more of these storms, head on.
