I worry that if I keep letting the busyness of my schedule consume my energy, all I'll have left is self-loathing and darkness. But truthfully, by the time I sit down to write my songs, the energy just isn't there. It's used up. And when my mind gets tired, it turns on itself. There's a self-doubt that's always there, right over my shoulder. The trail curves and the trees open up to a beautiful dark green valley, nestled between a cluster of earth mounds.
