There's a huge difference between the likely historical realities of these ancient cultures that gave rise to the biblical traditions, and the portrayal of the past in those biblical traditions. A lot of the biblical texts that we have were written around the eighth century b c. And some of the later material in the hebrew bible, what christian people call the old testament, the latest traditions are about the second century bc.
