Jenny Afil was born in 1968, grew up all over these United States. Her parents were boarding school teachers. She studied at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, and then later at Stanford University. First novel, Last Things, was published in 1999; it was a finalist for the LA Times first book award.
