What Makes Songbirds Vulnerable to Being Traded?

Bright, uniquely coloured songbirds are at much higher risk of extinction because they're more likely to be in demand as caged pets. A study has examined what else makes songbirds desirable as pets and therefore most vulnerable to being traded. Rebecca Sr. from Durham University found that it was their beautiful songs which made them a target for the bird trade.
