The War Cabinet Breaks Up
The war cabinet was about to sign a peace deal with the Belgians. Churchill took halifax out into the garden and put an arm on his shoulder. He said, mino, my dear edward, you're such a fine fellow. But trust me, i've seen these guyes before. This is not the time. We've got to hold out a little bit more. In the meantime, at dunkirk, it's time to operate, ta start operation dynamo. And if we can get forty thousand men away, we'll be doing quite well. It looks incredibly dire situation. No-one's expecting dunkirk to hold for more than 24, 36 hours tops
