If you're going into say your hypertrophy session, there's nothing wrong with just deciding to train in lower rep ranges on that day. I don't know that I would have a power lifter go into an SPD session with like, with heavy loads even with not a lot of volume after they had a really, really shitty night sleep. And this is where I think the data on napping is actually pretty useful: It doesn't set you up for failure and it doesn't break your confidence.
