What Happened at the Concert?
People were waiting with piles of rocks to throw at cars and buses as they went by. Pete Seager was in a car with his wife and two young children along with his father-in-law. Paul Robeson was driven out of the area hiding in the floor of a van. At least 15 cars were overturned as people tried to leave through all this.

The Peekskill Riots surrounded a concert by singer and activist Paul Robeson. His stances on political and civil rights issues and his communist affiliations catalyzed protests that were fueled with an undercurrent of racism and antisemitism.
