BPH benign prostatic hypertrophy refers to the proliferation of glandular epithelial tissue, smooth muscle and connective tissue. It's a combination of these three components that lead to the enlargement of the transition zone of the prostate. By the age of 60, 60% of men will have it; by the age of 80, 80% ofMen will have this condition.
