For most of our evolutionary history, we've been drinking naturally fermented beverages. But natural fermentation comes with us, basicly. Alcohols always come with a safty feature, which is that at a certain point, the yeast poison themselves. They're more resistant to alcohol than bacteria are, which is why theyare using it as a biological weapon against bacteria. So so we have this new form of alcohol thatis much more dangerous. And then, historically, alcoholhas always been consumed socially It's always been, ben historically, vanishingly rare for you to have private access to alcohol.
