In the first few years after graduating University what you should be thinking about is where you want your job to be in five or ten years. The things that make a good job good are in demand and they are themselves rare and valuable so if you want them you have to have something to offer in return. I've always had a real problem with this message because often your reluctance to do the really cool thing is because there's a very logical part of your brain that recognizes you don't have any of the skills needed to stand out, he says.
