Xi's a Close Alliator of Russia
China is nominally, not formally, but nominally quite a close ally of Russia. Since the war has begun, the Chinese have really made a point of staying on the fence in a way that they've refused to get drawn into Western kind of condemnations of the war. The Russian invasion of Ukraine goes fully against China's longstanding position of non-interference in other countries' affairs. They've resisted getting drawn into Western criticism of Russia.
