Valu investers have to be very careful about syclical things. The price to book is really only giving you a good idea, like the investment portion of it. It could be worth a lot less than a book if it has bad underwriting attached to it. I'd be very cautious about using price to book for something like that. But there are other ones where it would make a ton of sense.
