The Pros and Cons of Public Participation
50% of your practice is in public space. If no one shows up the piece doesn't exist and it's kind of devastating. The possibility that there's nobody is brutal because then the project doesn't develop. Another thing that happens is the possibility for the artwork to have an interpretation that is different that you expected. This oftentimes I've made very mournful pieces which end up being super playful and I kind of like that. It's more like a surprise like an experiment where something will happen you don't really know what.
