For perspective, if earth was the size of a soccer field, which is 105 meters by 68 meters or 7140 square meters, the surface area of all the world's mines would be 0.8 meters squared. In terms of depth, it's three pages out of a one meter ball. So we've only gone into about 0.027% of the diameter of earth. The deepest mine in the world is the 3.8 kilometers deep. And that's 0.011% of the planet's surface area.
