The Myth of Captain Franco

In 19 16, captain franco is promoted to the rank of major. The high commissioner in morocco recommends him for spain's highest military honor - the laureate cross of saint ferdinand. But not every one is convinced by the precocious, 23 year old captain. Some members of the jury believe he is lying about or exaggerating his military exploits. Others cite his young age as grounds that he is yet to truly prove his worth. Franco is undeterred and relentlessly appeals to the commander in chief of the army and even the spanish king alfonso the thirteenth. Impressed by Franco's persistence, the king eventually gives his seal of approval to the promotion
