The Problem With Cop Shows
J Edgar Hoover is an executive producer of FBI, which runs on ABC for like 10 years. He shut down a bunch of TV shows before they ever got onto the air and then helped them make FBI in the 70s. The Shield is like an anti-hero cop show. They're literally just a gang. But you still are experiencing the entire story from the perspective of the police. There's no real understanding of why they're doing crime or anything like that.
