The Split Subject in Lacanian Algebra

The object of the big other's desire that provokes anxiety in us is the sign that we have been castrated. A split subject has two fundamental elements: socio-linguistic and biomaterialistic. There is a third element here which I highlighted last time and we'll do so again now. The third element in this split subjectivity is the bar itself. Which is a line of demarcation. We can make this as narrow as we want but that has to be there. It's the irreducible distance between these two entities that allows them to remain distinct.
