Sonic's Ice Cream Program Was Transformative
The next full fiscal year, the average store profits went up 40%. And that's unbelievable. The biggest controversy guy, and it was so comical in retrospect, was most of these ice cream machines had two channels through which you could draw the ice cream, chocolate or vanilla. "We insisted that our operators drop the chocolate because the demand was going to be great enough on the vanilla," he says.
