The Debt Ceiling and the Discharge Petition

Democrats are trying to discharge petition in the house. It seems likely, though not certain, that if this thing actually went to a vote on the floor of the house, that there would be five Republicans who are sane and not completely craven. We don't know that for sure, but it seems likely that there are that many who, if given a straight up or down vote, shall we raise the debt ceiling?
