Chinese Migration in the Gwanshe Delta

Most migrants were males. Many of these male migrants struck up economic and sexual relationships with women up rivering. We do see some female migrants involved in family migrations, maybe a daughter, maybe a wife, going up river. Some women who are praised for travelling up river to retrieve the corpse or the coffin of a dead male relative of late. And we do see the both up river and down river movement of women as concubines or secondary wives. The astereo typical pattern is a highly mobile anthonys man with a primary wife in the delta and a concubine up river.
