I Don't Want to Put God in a Box

The heart is deceitful above all things. So we don't want to follow our heart. And the reason is because this is an authority issue. Theyare suggesting that if we make a claim about who god is and what he wants for us, that we're somehow placing limits on him. But it's a difference on starting assumptions about whether there's a god who has revealed self. In other words, god drew his own box around how we should understand him. Weare not the ones putting him there when we share what he said. When people are saying, hey, how do you know what god wants? They're working for the assumption that he hasn't revealed these things.
