This chapter explores the challenges and goals of creating zero-waste cities, including managing recycled waste, reducing landfill, minimizing environmental impact, and tackling air and water pollution. It discusses the importance of innovation, green development, and technology in achieving zero waste, and emphasizes the power struggle between fossil fuel companies and green technology companies. The chapter also highlights successful examples of zero-waste practices, such as a car-making factory in Chindau.
Zero-waste lifestyle came to people's attention a few years ago when online influencers showed us how to minimize waste. Their methodology, although rather extreme in some people's opinion, has proven that zero-waste is possible at the individual level. Meanwhile, on a wider scale, a growing number of Chinese cities and rural areas are trying to overcome even more challenges to reduce waste. On the show: Laiming, Niu Honglin & Brandon Yates
