Both dengue hemorrhagic fever and dengue shock syndrome are related to capillary leakage. So what happens is the virus and your immune response to the virus both cause damage to these tiny blood vessels, which causes them to leak. And that is going to cause you to not have enough blood, essentially, in your blood vessels. You can end up with massive organ dysfunction, eventual death.
