Kate Blanchard's character is motivated by ego. And that's why she can't help but humiliate the student. It reminded me of some interactions I have had with my students, where they're so interested in questions of identity and representation. The question is almost, should you be teaching this thing at all rather than what do you think about it? How do we engage with it?
