The Holmes 2013 Study on the Use of a Fast Scan in Pediatric Emergency Medicine
The POCUS study looked at a tertiary referral center that's staffed all by pediatric emergency medicine. The primary outcome measure was presence of intra-abdominal injury requiring intervention. Of the 354 patients that remained, 81% were admitted to the hospital and 14% did not have a fast exam. So we can't use OR as much anymore in kids if we ever could.
