The Role of T-Reg in the Pathogenesis of Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia

Regulatory T-cells derived from patients with Waldenstrom Macroglobulinemia exhibited a higher expression of T-reg effector molecules which can inhibit the effector immune cells. The authors concluded that their findings demonstrate the existence of a T-reg mediated immunosuppressive phenotype in Waldenstrom macroglobulemia. Despite the therapeutic advancements attributed to chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapies, their therapeutic potential has not been realized in AML due to multiple obstacles.
