The Importance of Understanding the Full Stack

As a user, I keep wanting to say like when I learn about chat GPT or AI, I want to walk the stack all the way down. So how far down in the stack do you go in your automobile? And where are you going to get the oil from? You need to apply that same thinking to the computer stack. But apparently you and I are stuck on that. There's something special about that stack - we want to know about it all the way.
