When did you leave that job? Was there a point where you said, ok, now i can make this transition. Yes. I'd just got married to a journalist that i met in my ohio state programme. So we ended up getting married and moving to chicago, where i was going to do this phd. That's when i started applying for a job at a magazine somewhere,. Just a try and kind of return to journalism. And fortunately, i i got a at science. Ah, so that's what brought me to washington, d c. And then at science is really where i kind of started doing science writing even more seriously than i had been earlier.

“I want a crumpled piece of paper where there are enough ridges and valleys and lines for me to be able to navigate, and they have to be authentic. And then of course the best stories among them will have surprise and intrigue, and things that are completely unexpected happen somewhere along the way. But it's hard to anticipate all of that. You still have to have a little bit of faith.”
