Anthony Blinken, the US Secretary of State, was due to go to Beijing in an attempt to sort of warm up relations between the two countries. His talks with President Xi have now been postponed. The meeting is cancelled because of tensions, the very subject of the proposed meeting. China's public statements and others have said, look, there was no need to do that.
