The Effects of NSAIDs on Gosal Syndrome
The recommended treatment for Gosal syndrome consists of repeated courses of corticosteroids to maintain adequate hemoglobin levels. The authors hypothesized that nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, or NSAIDs, could ameliorate the effects of TBXAS1 loss and improve hematologic function by reducing prostaglandin formation. To test this hypothesis, they treated two patients with Gosal syndrome with either ibuprofen or aspirin at doses that inhibit both COX1 and COX2.
