How to Design for Your Client's Mental Model

I think that responsive design is something that has slowly filtered through to most business people. But the mental model still for most people is this is the phone experience, the tablet experience and the desktop experience. And you can sort of begin to educate to that but ultimately you have to design for your clients mental model. It's not you know, you should bend to them, they shouldn't bend to you unless they're wrong.
