The Sacrament of Passover
The Last Supper is not only a commemoration of the Passover in antiquity, but it's also a symbol of the new covenant that Jesus is establishing right here with his followers. This meal can be read or seen as hope and expectation or an anticipation of the day when everything will be fixed. And so by having this meal and by Jesus making that statement in Luke 22, 18, the kingdom of God shall come and this meal will happen.
