Jeremiah's stance may have seemed to have been simplistically pro-Babylonian, seeming to mark him out as a traitor at certain points. Jack Lumbum remarks that the judgments here are far more general in contrast to the prophecies against Moab, for instance. Jeremiah: "As one gathers eggs that have been forsaken, so I have gathered all the earth"
