The Problem With English Spelling
English underwent several important sound changes shortly after the Anglo-Saxons arrived in Britain. As a general rule, most of the Germanic sounds in the back of the throat moved forward to the front of the mouth. I thought it might be interesting to listen to a clip of modern Dutch in comparison to English.
