The History of Christmas Pies

Christmas pies were a huge raised pie, chock full of many animals. Usually with all the bones taken out, if it was poultry, they were all stuffed within each other to make them. Covered in butter, kilos and kilos of butter, baked for a long time,. usually from Yorkshire or the north of England where there were lots of wealthy landowners with lots of game. They would send them to their chums in cities like Bristol London. As special gifts, enjoyed on Boxing Day feast of Stephen as a kind of hold buffet.
