A recent study also found that higher rates of social media use were associated with higher levels of something called C-Reactive Protein or CRP, which is basically a marker in the body of chronic inflammation. Chronic inflammation is associated with all kinds of medical problems and diseases too. It'll be really interesting to see what happens with this finding and how subsequent studies flesh out what is the association between the mental health and the physical health effects and how are they affecting each other too.
