Getting Specific With Your New Year's Resolution

i decided to flip the idea of a ner's resolution on its head. So my goal was to, before the year is out, sign up for and take my first piano lesson. Wl are ten days to spare. Am just in the nick of time. What does this phrase mean? This means down to the wire. Op, another idiom. These things mean just before time runs out. And it looks like i'm going to be able to do that. I have the piano getting tuned next week. And then the week after that,  it's going to be on the twentieth of december, i'll have my first lesson.
